The George Jetson Moment Is Here
The Jetsons was a 1960s animated television series set 100 years in its own future. The show followed the Jetson family through a world of flying cars, robot housekeepers and cities suspended in the sky. George Jetson reported to work every day at Spacely Space Sprockets. His entire occupation consisted of one task: pushing a button. The show treated this as satire. A working adult, employed full-time, contributing nothing beyond the press of a finger. The audience laughed because the premise seemed absurd, but what the writers actually built was a prophecy.
