Questions & Answers
ATTENDANCE AND REGISTRATION:
Who can come?
The CIO Summit is an invitation only event. To receive an invitation, you must hold the title of CIO of direct technology activities at a major hotel, casino, cruise line, management or timeshare company. If you received an invitation and CANNOT attend, you may NOT send someone else. Our invitation list includes the Who’s Who of the industry. Although we want the Summit to thrive and grow, we will never compromise quality for quantity. Unprecedented peer-to-peer networking has proven to be an integral part of the conference.
Second Attendee for Brands: Due to the continued growth of the management companies attending the CIO Summit, brands are allowed to have a second representative – VP level or higher – join their CIO.
If you would like to qualify for an invitation to the Summit or have any questions regarding a second brand representative, please contact Hospitality Upgrade President/Publisher Richard Siegel at rich@hospitalityupgrade.com.
ATTENDANCE AND REGISTRATION:
How much does it cost?
There is no registration fee to attend the Summit. Attendees are only responsible for air transportation and hotel accommodations. All other costs are covered by our sponsors including: registration fees, receptions, meals, offsite events, pre-conference outing fees, airport arrival transfers and Lyft service at the conference’s conclusion.
ATTENDANCE AND REGISTRATION:
Is there a spouse/guest program?
Yes! If you are bringing a spouse/significant other to the 2023 CIO Summit, please register him/her through your conference registration link or email Millicent Athanos at Millicent.athanos@hftp.org to register a spouse/significant other after registration deadline. Spouses can attend the cocktail and dinner events on Wednesday and Thursday evenings for a fee. This fee will be included on your hotel bill.
ATTENDANCE AND REGISTRATION:
What is the cancellation policy?
Room reservation cancellations: All reservations must be guaranteed with a credit card. This card will be charged in the event of a cancellation, no-show or deposit when warranted. Group rates are subject to availability. Hotel cancellation policy requires guests to cancel by 4 pm local time 24 hours before arrival to avoid a penalty fee of 1 nights' room and tax.
Conference attendance cancellations. Please notify Millicent Athanos at Millicent.athanos@hftp.org an attendance cancellation before Thursday, August 25 so we can plan accordingly. Our meals and events are assigned seating and arrangements must be made for your absence. Call, text or email Millicent.athanos@hftp.org.
DRESS: What is the conference dress?
What is the conference dress?
Average September weather in Austin is a high of 90 and a low of 75. Dress for the entire conference is casual.
SOCIAL ACTIVITIES:
Will there be plenty of opportunities to network?
The Summit offers CIOs a rare combination of networking, social events and program. Attendees are free to form critical relationships with their peers in a relaxed environment. There will be plenty of opportunities to meet your peers, whether it is at the sit-down dinners or interactive sessions (where we specifically circulate you to have an opportunity to mingle with all attendees) at the cocktail receptions, during the icebreakers and networking activities or during the pre-conference activities. Seating is assigned at each of our events to encourage interaction.
SPONSORSHIPS:
Just how many sponsors are we talking about?
The CIO Summit is not a commercial endeavor, but a high-level meeting for CIOs from around the world. There are a limited number of sponsorships and we don't allow any formal sponsor presentations or sales pitches. We allow sponsors to briefly welcome the attendees to the Summit and join us at conference events and functions. Again, this will not be a sales conference, but a closed-door conference for CIOs to discuss the issues at hand without interruption or unsolicited information.
TRANSPORTATION:
How do I book a free arrival limo transfer?
Hospitality Upgrade will be offering complimentary black car transfers from Austin Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) to the Hotel VanSandtl. To take advantage of this service, please click here to email your itinerary (arrival date, flight number, airline, arrival time and your cell number in case the driver needs to locate you) to Kim Delaney by August 16th.
